Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the heavy rainfall and flood situation in Gujarat with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and assured full support from the Central Government as rescue and relief operations intensified across the state’s flood-hit districts.

During a telephone conversation, PM Modi reviewed the monsoon situation, rescue operations and public safety measures, assuring Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel of full Central support for relief efforts.

As authorities intensified operations in flood-hit Valsad, two additional NDRF teams were airlifted from Delhi, while the Army deployed 70 personnel with five boats and a 25-member fire service team to assist rescue operations.

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited the State Emergency Operation Centre in Gandhinagar to review the evolving situation with senior officials and district collectors. He spoke with the Valsad Collector and Minister Naresh Patel to monitor rescue efforts and directed officials to deploy additional NDRF teams wherever required.

The Chief Minister also instructed the Collectors of Surat and Navsari to shift residents from low-lying and waterlogged areas to safer locations as a precaution.

Bhupendra Patel also spoke with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who assured full Central support.

Heavy rain flooded parts of Valsad, closed roads in Dang, triggered dam overflow warnings in Navsari and prompted evacuations in Tapi, while schools remained shut in Surat.

The IMD has forecast more heavy rainfall across South and central Gujarat.
