In Tamil Nadu, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam under Edappadi K. Palaniswami, is finalising its alliance structure.
The Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam and the Pattali Makkal Katchi have aligned with the AIADMK and the Bharatiya Janata Party, bolstering the coalition’s position in the State.
Campaign Momentum Builds
On January 23, Modi addressed the NDA’s first major public rally in Madurantakam in Chengalpattu district, marking the formal launch of the alliance’s campaign and signalling coordinated efforts to challenge the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). The rally drew a significant crowd.
Sources indicate that the Prime Minister is likely to address a large public meeting in Madurai on March 1 to galvanise support in southern Tamil Nadu. Another rally is reportedly planned in Vellore on March 6 to consolidate backing in the northern and western regions. Preparations are under way, with local leaders mobilising grassroots workers to ensure strong attendance.
Party sources suggest that seat-sharing arrangements among NDA constituents are expected to be finalised before the Prime Minister’s visit, enabling the alliance to project unity during the campaign.
With the election announcement imminent, political activity has intensified across the State, and the NDA is banking on Modi’s visits to energise its base ahead of a crucial Assembly contest.
