PM Modi Says Ramdhari Singh Dinkar’s Fiery Poetry Still Inspires Valour & Vigour

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tribute to renowned Hindi poet and writer Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’ on his birth anniversary. He recalled Dinkar’s lasting contribution to Hindi literature and national consciousness.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “On the birth anniversary of the National Poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar ji, I offer my deepest respects to him a hundredfold.”

He said Dinkar’s fiery poetry focused on public awakening and national pride. His works continue to inspire “valor, vigor, and self-respect” among Indians.

PM Modi said Dinkar enriched Hindi literature and encouraged devotion to the motherland. He added that the poet’s towering personality and timeless works would guide generations.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari paid tribute to Dinkar as well. “On the birth anniversary of the greatest poet and writer, Padma Bhushan Ramdhari Singh Dinkar ji, humble salutations to him,” he posted on X.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described Dinkar as a towering figure of Hindi literature. He called him the “pinnacle figure” of Hindi literature and paid homage.

Yogi said Dinkar’s “impartial and fearless pen” awakened national pride and renewed public energy. His writings, he said, would continue strengthening India’s cultural traditions and values.

Born on September 23, 1908, Dinkar became one of modern Hindi literature’s most prominent figures. The poet, essayist, patriot and academic earned the title ‘Rashtrakavi’, or National Poet.

Dinkar died on April 24, 1974. He received the Jnanpith Award for Urvashi, the Sahitya Akademi Award and the Padma Bhushan.

He served as a nominated Rajya Sabha member. His writings remain closely linked with nationalism, courage, social consciousness and cultural identity.
