In a powerful show of support, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a large election rally in Chandankiyari, Bokaro district on Sunday, gathering thousands of enthusiastic supporters. Photos and videos of the massive turnout have flooded social media, showcasing the momentum behind the BJP’s campaign for the upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand.
Prime Minister Modi criticized the opposition, especially Congress, JMM, and RJD, accusing them of prioritizing power over unity. He claimed Congress has historically opposed the solidarity of Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC), benefitting from a “divide and rule” policy since independence.
“As long as Dalits, tribals, and OBCs remained divided, Congress kept forming governments and looting,” he stated, highlighting that since OBCs secured reservation rights in 1990, Congress has struggled to secure a majority.
Modi alleged that Congress is attempting to create discord among different communities, saying, “Congress wants to create rifts—Yadav versus Koiri, Sonar versus blacksmith, barber versus Kahar.”
He went on to accuse the JMM-Congress government in Jharkhand of fostering “paper leak and recruitment mafias.” Modi promised that, if elected, the BJP would clamp down on these elements and bring those responsible to justice.
Declaring a strong surge of support for the BJP, Modi spoke of a “storm in favor of BJP” in Jharkhand. He underscored the party’s commitment to Jharkhand’s development, stating, “We created Jharkhand as a separate state, and we are dedicated to improving it.”
He expressed skepticism toward leaders who opposed the state’s creation, questioning their commitment to Jharkhand’s progress.
Modi shared figures contrasting central government support under the UPA versus the NDA. “Between 2005 and 2014, the UPA gave Jharkhand 80,000 crore rupees. Since 2014, under the BJP, we’ve given Jharkhand over 3 lakh crore rupees,” he noted.
However, he accused the current Jharkhand Mukti Morcha government of misappropriating these funds, saying they had “looted” resources meant for the people.
Highlighting his focus on tackling corruption, Modi spoke of leaders who are “earning crores through sand smuggling.” He stated, “So much cash is coming out that counting machines are wearing out.”
Modi pledged that a BJP government would pursue legal battles to ensure these leaders receive “the harshest punishment” for corruption, redirecting public money back to the people.
Modi announced initiatives aimed at improving women’s lives in Jharkhand. Through the Gogo Didi scheme, funds will be directly deposited into women’s bank accounts. “We’ve already provided free gas connections to mothers under Ujjwala; now, we will offer Jharkhand women discounted gas cylinders, plus two free cylinders a year,” he added, outlining policies aimed at easing household burdens.
Concluding his address, Modi urged voters to back the BJP to propel Jharkhand into the ranks of India’s top states, saying, “Our priority is to uplift the lives of Jharkhand’s sisters and daughters and bring transformative development to every corner of the state.”
