PM Modi Promises Full Support To Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan Amid Wayanad Landslides

PM Modi communicated with Union ministers from Kerala, Suresh Gopi and George Kurien, about the ongoing situation. He has also instructed BJP president J.P. Nadda to coordinate with party workers in the area to support the relief efforts.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives in landslides that struck the Wayanad district of Kerala. He assured Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of full support from the Central government in addressing the crisis.

In response to the disaster, Modi announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of those who died and Rs 50,000 for those injured. The landslides, which occurred in the hilly region of Wayanad, resulted in the deaths of eight people, including three children, according to officials.

In a statement on X, Modi conveyed his distress over the situation, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the landslides in Wayanad. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones, and my prayers are with those injured. Rescue operations are currently underway to help everyone affected.” He also mentioned that he had spoken with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and assured him of all possible assistance from the Centre.
