Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday shared a photograph capturing a massive turnout at a rally venue in Suri, situated in Birbhum. The crowd was seen filling the ground well in advance of his arrival, reflecting strong public participation.
He interpreted the heavy turnout as a clear sign of increasing support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, “I am about to address a rally in Birbhum. The ground is packed with people who have come to shower their blessings. It’s all about the BJP in West Bengal!”

The photograph shared alongside the post showed a large audience gathered in front of a prominent stage, underlining the scale of the event.
Excitement gripped Suri as supporters gathered in large numbers hours before the Prime Minister’s scheduled address. The Birbhum rally marked his third public programme of the day in the state, following earlier events in Haldia and Asansol.
Despite being the final engagement of the day, the venue witnessed a full turnout, indicating strong anticipation among attendees.
BJP Candidate Expresses Confidence
Jagarnath Chatterjee said the atmosphere in the region suggested a growing wave of support for the party.
“You can see the enthusiasm among the people. The ground is already full, even though there is still time for the Prime Minister to arrive. Supporters have come from across Birbhum. This is going to be a historic rally, and we are confident of winning the majority of seats and driving out Trinamool,” he said.
People present at the rally linked their support to expectations of development and governance. One attendee said, “We want development in West Bengal, and we believe it is possible under PM Modi.”
Women participants particularly spoke about safety concerns and the need for change. “We are very happy that PM Modi is visiting Birbhum. We want the BJP to win here. Women do not feel safe, and our families hesitate to let us step out after 8 p.m. We want a safer environment,” a woman supporter said.
At a separate rally in Asansol, a notable moment occurred when a person displayed a poster reading, “Respected Modi ji, please save West Bengal” while also pointing to issues such as “Corruption, law and order, infiltration, women safety and unemployment”.
As campaigning intensifies, political engagement across West Bengal continues to rise ahead of the Assembly elections.
Voting in the state will take place in two phases on April 23 and April 29. The first phase will cover 152 Assembly constituencies, while the remaining 142 seats will vote in the second phase. The counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.
