PM Modi Pays Tribute To NTR On His 103rd Birth Anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid tribute to legendary actor and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) on his 103rd birth anniversary, saying that his life and ideals continue to inspire generations.

In a post shared on the social media platform X, PM Modi praised NTR’s commitment to public welfare and governance, stating that he worked towards ensuring dignity for the poor and marginalised sections of society.

PM Modi also highlighted NTR’s immense contribution to Indian cinema and said his performances continue to captivate audiences across generations.

The Prime Minister further said that the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh, led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, remains committed to fulfilling the aspirations that NTR envisioned for the people of the state.

Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, popularly known as NTR, was one of the most influential personalities in Telugu cinema and politics.

Born on May 28, 1923, in Nimmakuru, Andhra Pradesh, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao began his career as a government sub-registrar before entering the film industry with ‘Mana Desam’ in 1949.

NTR acted in more than 300 films and earned immense popularity for portraying mythological characters, particularly Lord Krishna and Lord Rama, in films such as ‘Maya Bazaar’ and ‘Daana Veera Soora Karna’.

NTR’s powerful screen presence earned him the title ‘Viswa Vikhyatha Nata Sarvabhouma’. He founded the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 1982 and became the first non-Congress Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh after the party’s historic 1983 election victory.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also paid tribute to NTR, remembering his lasting contribution to cinema, politics, and Telugu culture.
