People across the country celebrated Eid al-Adha, also known as Eid al-Adha, with deep religious devotion and enthusiasm.
Thousands of worshippers gathered at mosques and Eidgahs from early morning to offer special prayers and participate in the celebrations.
Devotees dressed in traditional attire exchanged greetings with family members, friends, and neighbours after the prayers.
People celebrating the festival said Eid al-Adha promotes the values of communal harmony, peaceful coexistence, compassion, sacrifice, and charity.
Families celebrated the occasion with festive meals and acts of kindness, while many individuals distributed food and extended help to the underprivileged as part of the festival’s spirit of generosity and social responsibility.
Authorities across several states deployed security personnel and made elaborate traffic and law-and-order arrangements to ensure peaceful celebrations during the festivities.
Eid al-Adha holds immense religious importance for Muslims worldwide. The festival commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion and willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command.
The occasion symbolises faith, gratitude, compassion, forgiveness, obedience, and generosity.
While most parts of India celebrated the festival on Thursday, some areas, including parts of Jammu and Kashmir, observed it a day earlier.
Like other Islamic festivals, Eid al-Adha follows the sighting of the crescent moon.
Religious authorities in several regions confirmed that the Dhul-Hijjah moon was not sighted on the expected evening this year, leading most states to celebrate Eid al-Fitr on May 28.
