PM Modi Pays Tribute To Late Dr Manmohan Singh On His Birth Anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister, the late Dr Manmohan Singh, on his birth anniversary.

Recalling his long years of service to the nation, PM Modi lauded his significant contributions to India’s growth and governance.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister wrote, “Tributes to former PM Dr Manmohan Singh Ji on his birth anniversary. We recall his contributions to our nation during his long years in public life.”

Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju also remembered Dr Singh, writing, “His years of service to the nation will always be remembered with respect.”

Congress Leaders Honour His Legacy

The Indian National Congress paid heartfelt tributes to its former leader, celebrating his life and achievements.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge described Dr Singh as ‘the gentle architect of India’s economic transformation’.

In his message on X, Kharge wrote, “We remember the contribution of Former Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, in nation building. A man of humility and wisdom, he carried himself with quiet dignity, letting his actions speak louder than words.”

He further noted that Dr Singh’s economic vision ‘opened new doors of opportunity, created a thriving middle class, and lifted countless families out of poverty’, adding that his integrity in public life remained a source of inspiration.

The Congress party, through its official handle, also honoured Dr Singh’s enduring impact, “Dr Manmohan Singh, a distinguished economist and former PM of India, steered the nation through historic economic reforms. His vision of inclusive growth and political integrity defined 21st-century India’s golden age.”

A Visionary Economist and Statesman

Dr Manmohan Singh, widely regarded as one of India’s most respected economists, served as the country’s 13th Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014.

As Finance Minister under Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao between 1991 and 1996, he introduced sweeping economic reforms that liberalised India’s economy and set it on a path of sustained growth.

His policies of liberalisation, privatisation, and globalisation helped India overcome a severe balance-of-payments crisis and ushered in an era of economic transformation, creating a robust middle class and integrating India into the global economy.

Dr Singh passed away on 26 December 2024 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi due to age-related ailments.

His legacy endures through his vision for a modern, inclusive, and self-reliant India.

Leaders across political lines continue to remember Dr Manmohan Singh as a symbol of integrity, intellect, and humility—an economist who shaped modern India and a statesman who served the nation with quiet strength and unwavering dedication.
