PM Modi Pays Tribute To Khudiram Bose’s Bravery In ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Address

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the 124th episode of his radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, paid a heartfelt tribute to Khudiram Bose, the fearless young revolutionary who laid down his life for India’s independence.

Prime Minister Modi described Bose’s sacrifice as an act of unmatched courage that inspired a nation.

The Prime Minister vividly recalled the morning of 11 August 1908 in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, when 18-year-old Khudiram faced his execution with a calm smile.

“There were tears in the eyes of people, but fire in their hearts,” PM Modi said, painting a moving picture of the moment.

He further added, “That brave, courageous youth was Khudiram Bose. There was no fear on his face, only pride.”

The British authorities executed Khudiram Bose for attempting to assassinate a judge in the Muzaffarpur Conspiracy Case.

At just 18 years, 8 months, and 8 days old, Bose became one of the youngest revolutionaries to be executed during British rule.

PM Modi stressed that Khudiram’s fearless walk to the gallows with a smile left a deep imprint on the collective national conscience.

“Even the newspapers wrote that there was a smile on his face as he approached the gallows,” Prime Minister Modi noted.

He further added that it was such youthful sacrifices, repeated countless times, that ultimately earned the nation its hard-fought independence.

The Month of Revolutions

Transitioning from Bose’s story, the Prime Minister highlighted the historic significance of August in India’s struggle for freedom. He referred to it as the ‘month of revolution’ and listed major events that shaped the nation’s destiny.

“August 1 marks the death anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak, and on August 8, the Quit India Movement was launched under Gandhiji’s leadership,” PM Modi said.

He also reminded citizens of the pain and lessons from Partition, observed on 14 August as ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’, followed by Independence Day on 15 August.

PM Modi urged citizens, especially the youth, to draw inspiration from revolutionaries like Khudiram Bose and to reflect on their sacrifices.

He emphasised that patriots selflessly gave their lives and led centuries of struggle to build the nation’s freedom.

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister encouraged listeners to honour these heroes not just with remembrance but by living their values, courage, sacrifice, and love for the nation.
