Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of Sushil Kaushik, a Delhi-based actor who tragically passed away while performing as Lord Ram during a Ramleela event in Vishwakarma Nagar, Shahdara, on October 6. The 45-year-old actor suffered a heart attack on stage, and a video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.
In a letter addressed to Kaushik’s wife, Shikha, PM Modi conveyed his sadness over the sudden loss, stating, “Mrs. Shikha Kaushik ji, I am very sad to know about the sudden demise of Shri Sushil Kaushik ji. My condolences are with the family in this difficult time.”

The Prime Minister acknowledged Kaushik’s dedication to his family and cultural pursuits, noting his long-standing involvement in Ramleela performances. He highlighted that Kaushik remained committed to portraying Lord Ram even in his final moments.
“He fulfilled all the responsibilities in his life faithfully,” PM Modi wrote, recognizing Kaushik’s passion for cultural activities.
In his closing remarks, PM Modi reflected on the profound impact of Kaushik’s passing on his family. He offered words of comfort, emphasizing that the values and teachings imparted by Kaushik would continue to guide them.
“It is difficult to express in words the pain of the void in the lives of the family members due to his demise. May God give patience and courage to your family and well-wishers to bear this sorrow. Om Shanti!” he concluded.
Sushil Kaushik, a property dealer, had been portraying the character of Lord Ram for 32 years. The viral video captured him rushing behind the stage while clutching his chest in distress.
