Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently met with top business leaders and CEOs in Singapore, focusing on enhancing economic ties between the two nations. During the meeting, PM Modi emphasized the ongoing reforms in India aimed at encouraging investment and fostering innovation.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister shared, “Interacted with top business leaders and CEOs in Singapore. We talked about ways to deepen economic linkages. I highlighted the reforms underway in India, which will encourage investment and innovation.”
PM Modi also met with Goh Chok Tong, the Emeritus Senior Minister and former Prime Minister of Singapore. They discussed ways to strengthen the long-standing friendship between India and Singapore.
“Met Mr. Goh Chok Tong, Emeritus Senior Minister and a widely respected statesman,” PM Modi shared on X. “We had extensive discussions on ways to add momentum to the India-Singapore friendship. His experience and expertise are very valued.”
Randhir Jaiswal, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), highlighted PM Modi’s appreciation for Goh’s contributions in fostering India-Singapore relations. In his own post, Jaiswal wrote, “PM appreciated Emeritus Senior Minister Goh’s contributions in starting the ‘India Fever’ in Singapore. They discussed ideas for further strengthening India-Singapore ties.”
As part of his visit, PM Modi announced the establishment of an Invest India Office in Singapore. This office will provide support to Singaporean investors interested in diverse sectors in India. The MEA emphasized that this move will further bolster economic cooperation between the two countries.
Jaideep Mazumdar, MEA Secretary East, highlighted the significance of the Prime Minister’s interactions during the visit, stating that it’s an “opportune time” for Singaporean CEOs to gain insights into India’s investment landscape. Mazumdar noted the exchange of four Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) between the two nations. These MOUs cover cooperation in areas such as the semiconductor ecosystem, digital technologies, skill development, education, and healthcare.

“The next stage in our bilateral relations has been set by the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable, which identified six pillars of futuristic cooperation. The four MOUs address four of these pillars,” he explained during a special briefing.
India and Singapore took a significant step by elevating their bilateral relations to the level of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. This agreement marks a commitment to future-ready cooperation between the two countries.
