PM Modi, Leaders Extend Greetings On Second Day Of Shardiya Navratri; Honours Goddess Brahmacharini

Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the second day of Shardiya Navratri, dedicated to Goddess Brahmacharini, by conveying his greetings and invoking blessings for the courage and self-restraint of devotees.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “On this Navratri, today, millions of salutations at the feet of Mother Brahmacharini! May the Goddess Mother bless all her devotees with courage and restraint.”

Alongside his greetings, PM Modi shared a devotional bhajan devoted to the Goddess, accompanied by visuals of Brahmacharini in her distinctive form.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also extended his best wishes on social media.

“On Sharadiya Navratri, it is my prayer that Maa Brahmacharini, the second form of Adishakti Maa Bhagwati, blesses all the devotees with faith and self-confidence,” he further posted on X.

Similarly, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conveyed his greetings, stating, “Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all the residents of the state on the second day of Shardiya Navratri. I pray to Mother Brahmacharini, the presiding deity of knowledge, penance, restraint, and renunciation, for a happy, healthy, and auspicious life for all of you.”

Brahmacharini: Goddess of Purity and Devotion

Brahmacharini, whose name literally means a devoted female student, represents the second incarnation of Navdurga, an avatar of Goddess Parvati. She is traditionally depicted in a white sari, holding a rosary in her right hand and a water pot in her left.

Goddess Brahmacharini represents the Svadhishthana Chakra and signifies an unmarried state, with the colour white representing purity.

Her form, holding a japamala and kamandalu, epitomises spiritual discipline and devotion.

The Shardiya Navratri celebrations commenced on Monday, 22 September, and will continue until 2 October.

Devotees observe special prayers, rituals, and fasts across the country, with each day dedicated to a different manifestation of Goddess Durga.

Temples, however, witnessed a large turnout of devotees, with people forming queues outside from early morning to participate in the festivities.
