PM Modi Invites Public Input For Independence Day Speech; Encourages Citizens To Share Ideas

With Independence Day approaching on 15 August, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens across India to contribute their ideas and suggestions for his annual address from the Red Fort.

In a post on the social media platform, PM Modi called for active public participation in shaping this year’s speech. This continues his longstanding effort to make governance more inclusive and participatory.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “As we approach this year’s Independence Day, I look forward to hearing from my fellow Indians! What themes or ideas would you like to see reflected in this year’s Independence Day speech? Share your thoughts on the Open Forums on MyGov and the NaMo App…”

The appeal is part of an annual tradition that has become a defining feature of PM Modi’s Independence Day preparations. It reflects his commitment to participatory democracy and the inclusion of citizens in national discourse.

Over the years, the Prime Minister has incorporated citizen feedback into his speeches, spotlighting:

  • Inspiring local stories,
  • Achievements of the youth, and
  • Policy suggestions that reflect the voice of the people

Digital Platforms for Engagement

The MyGov platform, launched in 2014, has served as a vital bridge between the government and the public.

Alongside it, the NaMo App continues to offer a direct and accessible channel for engagement with governance and national initiatives.

As India prepares to celebrate its 79th year of independence, this year’s themes will likely focus on national unity, technological advancement, and a forward-looking vision for the future, with the 80th independence anniversary on the horizon in 2026.

Citizens can now submit their thoughts via the MyGov portal or the NaMo App.

Selected entries may be featured in the Prime Minister’s speech, offering Indians a unique chance to have their voices heard from the iconic Red Fort stage.
