In a significant boost to Delhi’s transportation infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Namo Bharat Corridor, a 13-kilometer stretch of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut rail line between Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar.
The corridor, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 4,600 crore, marks a key milestone in enhancing regional connectivity and providing the capital with its first Namo Bharat train service.
The high-speed, efficient service is expected to revolutionize travel for millions, cutting the journey time between Delhi and Meerut by one-third. Commuters will reach their destination in less than 40 minutes, compared to the previous time.
During the inaugural ride, PM Modi purchased a smart ticket and engaged with passengers.

Among the highlights of the trip was his interaction with school children who presented sketches and recited poems. One student’s poem titled Nav Bharat was especially appreciated by the Prime Minister. Additionally, Modi visited an exhibition showcasing the train network’s construction process, where he was presented with a model of the Namo Bharat train by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).

The Namo Bharat train offers modern amenities, including phone charging points, dedicated luggage spots, a women-only coach, and a premium service. The fare from New Delhi to Meerut is set at Rs 150, offering a cost-effective and comfortable alternative for daily commuters.
In the afternoon, PM Modi will launch and lay the foundation stones for several key development projects across Delhi, cumulatively worth over Rs 12,200 crore. One of the significant projects includes the opening of a 2.8-kilometer stretch of the Delhi Metro Phase-IV, between Janakpuri and Krishna Park. Built at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore, this is the first operational segment of Phase-IV, set to benefit residents of areas like Krishna Park, Vikaspuri, and Janakpuri in West Delhi.
Moreover, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation for the 26.5-kilometer Rithala-Kundli section of Phase-IV, a Rs 6,230 crore project that will connect Delhi and Haryana, easing connectivity between Rithala in Delhi and Nathupur (Kundli) in Haryana, benefiting areas such as Rohini, Bawana, Narela, and Kundli.
Among the other key projects is the foundation stone for the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) in Rohini, a modern research facility worth Rs 185 crore.
PM Modi will conclude his visit by addressing a public rally in the national capital, marking the completion of these transformative infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing connectivity and boosting Delhi’s urban landscape.
