Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday, addressed civil servants at Vigyan Bhawan to mark the 17th Civil Services Day, urging them to remain committed to serving the nation with integrity and innovation.
On this occasion, he presented the prestigious Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration, which celebrate outstanding contributions in the implementation of various government welfare schemes.
Recognising Dedication To Public Welfare
The organisers distributed the awards across three key categories: Holistic Development of Districts, Aspirational Blocks Programme, and Innovation.
The selection committee chose more than a dozen initiatives from over 1,500 nominations after conducting a rigorous evaluation process.
“These awards are not just honours, but acknowledgements of commitment, creativity, and impact on the ground,” said the Prime Minister during his address.
Award-Winning Initiatives Across India
The organisers honoured Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh) early on for its Sugamya Pustakalaya initiative, which ensures equal reading and learning opportunities for differently-abled children.
The programme stood out for its inclusive approach and innovative design.

Meanwhile, Rajkot (Gujarat) received accolades for achieving 100% coverage across a wide array of schemes, including PM Suryaghar, Saksham Anganwadi, Poshan 2.0, PM Jan Arogya Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, and the Kisan Credit Card.
The organisers recognised Gomati district (Tripura) for effectively delivering Mission Indradhanush, Poshan Abhiyaan, and PM Awas Yojana to every eligible beneficiary.
Similarly, Tinsukia (Assam) earned praise for comprehensive implementation of Har Ghar Jal Yojana, Poshan 2.0, and other schemes, ensuring full coverage among its citizens.
The organisers awarded Koraput (Odisha) and Kupwara (Jammu & Kashmir) for bringing welfare schemes to the grassroots.
In Koraput, programmes like Matru Vandana Yojana, PM Vishwakarma, PM Swanidhi, and PM Awas Yojana achieved full-scale execution.
Kupwara mirrored this success with impactful implementation of PM Jan Arogya, PM Swanidhi, and the Kisan Credit Card scheme.
Exceptional Performance In Aspirational Blocks
In the Aspirational Blocks category, several regions demonstrated innovative problem-solving and development.
- Ghamaria block (Jharkhand) was honoured for digital health initiatives, smart education, and universal access to clean water.
- Parappa block (Kasargod, Kerala) excelled in tribal healthcare, housing development, and support to self-help groups.
- Naranur block (Adilabad, Telangana) impressed with its initiatives in early TB detection, nutrition campaigns, and promotion of natural farming.
- Ganganagar block (Dhalai, Tripura) was recognised for digital learning tools, e-governance, waste management, and permanent housing.
- Rama block (Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh) stood out for effective implementation of Soil Health Cards, Har Ghar Jal, and PM Awas Yojana.
Celebrating Service, Innovation And Impact
The Prime Minister’s Awards, instituted to encourage excellence in public service, aim to inspire government organisations and civil servants to innovate and deliver people-centric governance.
Through these honours, the government underscores the critical role of local administration in shaping India’s development narrative.
As the event concluded, PM Modi urged civil servants to continue upholding the highest standards of public service and to remain agile in addressing the evolving needs of the citizens.
“Innovation and commitment at the grassroots level are transforming lives. These stories of success must inspire every civil servant across the country,” the Prime Minister said.
