Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the country is progressing rapidly on what he described as a “Reform Express”, a series of fast-paced reforms aimed at making life easier for citizens and simplifying the business environment nationwide. He said these reforms are benefiting workers, employees, entrepreneurs and businesses alike.
Addressing the 18th edition of the Rozgar Mela through a virtual platform, the Prime Minister said the central focus of the government’s reform efforts is to improve ease of living and ease of doing business. He noted that the reform process is designed to ensure that both individuals and enterprises experience fewer hurdles and greater opportunities.
The Prime Minister said next-generation reforms, particularly under the Goods and Services Tax framework, have played a significant role in supporting young entrepreneurs and strengthening micro, small and medium enterprises. He observed that GST reforms have contributed to creating a more transparent and unified market, which has helped businesses grow and innovate.
He said the reform momentum has become a widely discussed subject and encouraged government officials to take inspiration from it. He urged them to actively contribute to the reform process at their respective levels and use their experiences to prevent citizens from facing avoidable difficulties.
The Prime Minister also referred to the implementation of historic labour reforms in recent years. He said these reforms are structured to benefit labourers, employees and businesses simultaneously. According to him, the new labour codes have expanded the scope of social security and strengthened protection for workers and employees.
Emphasising the importance of grassroots-level changes, the Prime Minister said even small and practical reforms implemented locally can have a far-reaching impact. He urged officials to adopt a proactive approach so that the benefits of government initiatives reach the maximum number of people.
