In the 125th episode of his popular radio show Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reflected on the growing influence of Indian culture across the world.
Citing examples from countries like Italy, Canada, and Russia, PM Modi highlighted how the world is increasingly embracing Indian traditions, even in lesser-known regions.
PM Modi began by recalling an event in the small Italian town of Camp-Rotondo, where locals unveiled a statue of Maharishi Valmiki.
Local authorities, including the mayor, celebrated the occasion. PM Modi highlighted that the Indian diaspora in Camp-Rotondo felt especially delighted by this recognition.
“The messages of Maharishi Valmiki inspire all of us,” he said, emphasising the significance of such cultural milestones in promoting Indian values globally.
The Prime Minister also mentioned an important development in Canada, where a massive 51-foot statue of Lord Shri Ram was inaugurated in Mississauga.
The event generated great excitement, with social media buzzing with images and videos of the towering statue.
PM Modi also expressed his admiration for the excitement this event sparked, highlighting how the statue became a symbol of the deep-rooted cultural ties between India and Canada.
Shifting his focus to Russia, PM Modi spoke about the growing fascination with the Ramayana, one of India’s oldest epics.
He recounted a unique exhibition in Vladivostok, where Russian children showcased their artistic interpretations of themes from the Ramayana.
The exhibition also featured a competition, celebrating the cultural exchange between India and Russia.
PM Modi was thrilled by the event, calling it a reflection of the increasing global awareness of Indian traditions.
“It is indeed heartening to see the growing awareness of Indian culture in different parts of the world,” he added.
Throughout the episode, PM Modi reiterated that Indian culture’s influence is expanding, highlighting that this growing appreciation extends beyond major global cities to smaller towns as well.
He emphasised that India’s cultural impact was steadily rising, reinforcing the country’s soft power and fostering global goodwill.
In his concluding remarks, the Prime Minister commended the efforts of Indian communities abroad and global citizens who contribute to spreading India’s rich cultural heritage.
He expressed hope that such cultural exchange would continue to build bridges, enhancing global unity and understanding through shared values.
PM Modi’s reflections on Indian culture’s increasing global influence underline the importance of cultural diplomacy in shaping India’s role on the world stage.
Moreover, with ongoing initiatives to strengthen international ties through cultural programs, the Prime Minister’s vision for a global appreciation of Indian traditions seems to be gaining momentum.
