Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi reflected on the teachings of Bhagwan Mahavir, the 24th and final Tīrthankara of Jainism, and their universal appeal.
The Prime Minister noted that Mahavir’s emphasis on non-violence, truth, and compassion continues to inspire millions.

PM Modi mentioned last year’s decision to grant Prakrit Classical Language status, which received widespread praise.
“Our government will always work to fulfill the vision of Bhagwan Mahavir,” Prime Minister Modi said, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding cultural and spiritual legacies.
Lord Mahavir Birth Anniversary Celebrations
This year marks the 2623rd birth anniversary of Bhagwan Mahavir, which is being celebrated with devotion across India.
Jains observe Mahavir Jayanti on the 13th day of the waxing moon in the Chaitra month, according to the Jain calendar.
Mahavir was born in 599 BC in Kundalagrama, near modern-day Patna, Bihar.
Participation In Navkar Mahamantra Divas
On the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, PM Modi participated in the Navkar Mahamantra Divas at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi.
He chanted the ‘Navkar Mahamantra’ with people from over 108 countries.
The Prime Minister called it the essence of faith that guides individuals from self to society.
