PM Narendra Modi on Monday commended the BJP for its commanding performance in the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026. He described the result as a triumph of governance over the rule of the All India Trinamool Congress.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “The lotus has bloomed in West Bengal! The 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections will remain unforgettable. The power of the people has triumphed, and the politics of good governance of the BJP has received the full blessings of the people here. I am deeply grateful from the bottom of my heart to my brothers and sisters of Bengal for this historic victory.”
“The masses—Janata-Janardan—have given the BJP an unprecedented mandate. I assure them that our party will leave no stone unturned to fulfil the dreams and aspirations of the people of West Bengal. Our double-engine government will ensure equal opportunities and respect for all sections of society,” the post further read.

The Prime Minister will visit the party headquarters to join the victory celebrations and address party workers. He characterised the mandate as a clear assertion of people’s will and affirmed that governance-focused politics had prevailed.
“I bow to each citizen of West Bengal. The electorate has delivered a resounding mandate to the BJP. We shall strive tirelessly to fulfil their aspirations and ensure opportunity and dignity for all sections of society,” PM Modi noted.
The Prime Minister also paid tribute to party workers. He acknowledged their perseverance and resilience in advancing the development agenda despite adversities.
HM Amit Shah welcomed the verdict and reiterated the party’s commitment to transforming the state into ‘Sonar Bangla’. He invoked the legacy of eminent figures such as Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Swami Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore, Subhas Chandra Bose, and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.
Additionally, Shah criticised appeasement politics and attributed the victory to the sacrifices of party workers. He further honoured those who endured violence and steadfastly upheld their ideological commitment.
