Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised Andhra Pradesh for its large-scale preparations ahead of International Yoga Day 2025, applauding the state’s commitment under the #Yogandhra2025 campaign.
In a post on his official X account, PM Modi called their efforts ‘commendable’ and encouraged citizens to integrate yoga into their daily lives.
The Prime Minister also announced that he would personally celebrate Yoga Day on 21 June in Andhra Pradesh, reflecting the Centre’s emphasis on yoga as a foundation for both personal and societal well-being.
Ahead of the main celebration, Union Minister of State for AYUSH Prataprao Jadhav shared that over 2,000 yoga enthusiasts gathered at Puligundu Twin Hills near Chittoor to kick off the #Yogandhra2025 campaign.

The event took place amid scenic 1,000-foot-high rock formations, where participants engaged in a session filled with ‘calm and positive energy’.
This event forms part of a month-long yoga festival leading up to International Yoga Day.
The Andhra Pradesh government has, however, selected Visakhapatnam as the main venue for the June 21 event. Organisers have set a target of 20 million (2 crore) participants, aiming to achieve one of the largest yoga gatherings in the world.
This unprecedented initiative highlights the state’s ambition to position itself as a central player in global yoga outreach, while supporting India’s broader campaign, ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’.
By choosing to attend the event in Andhra Pradesh, PM Modi has reaffirmed his long-standing commitment to yoga as a tool for holistic health and unity.
Through campaigns such as #Yogandhra2025, PM Modi aims to make yoga a universal lifestyle choice and a powerful symbol of India’s soft power on the global stage.
With enthusiasm building and preparations in full swing, Andhra Pradesh stands ready to host a landmark celebration that could set new records and inspire millions around the world.
