Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended greetings to the nation on the fifth day of Chaitra Navaratri, dedicated to Maa Skandamata. He wished that the Goddess bless everyone with compassion, peace and spiritual strength.
In a post on X, PM Modi offered prayers to Maa Skandamata and said her compassionate blessings illuminate people’s lives.
देवी स्कन्दमाता की करबद्ध प्रार्थना! मेरी कामना है कि अपने ममतामयी स्नेह और आशीर्वाद से वे सबका जीवन आलोकित करें।
सिंहासनगता नित्यं पद्माश्रितकरद्वया।

He added that devotion to Mother Ambe brings immense spiritual joy and inner peace. The Prime Minister also shared a devotional hymn, Chottanikkara Amme Jagathambike, sung by Ganesh Sundaram.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also conveyed his wishes, praying that the maternal affection of Skandamata brings prosperity, peace and happiness across the world.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta described the Goddess as a symbol of tenderness and compassion. She noted that Skandamata, revered as the mother of Lord Kartikeya, inspires society to work towards collective upliftment with sensitivity and harmony.
Maa Skandamata represents motherhood, compassion and guidance. She is depicted holding her son Kartikeya while seated on a lion and carrying lotus flowers. Devotees believe that her worship leads to both spiritual growth and material well-being.
Navaratri, meaning ‘nine nights’, celebrates Goddess Durga and her nine forms, collectively known as Navdurga.
The festival is observed across India with prayers, rituals and deep devotion, honouring the divine feminine in its various manifestations.
