Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will hold a traditional pre-budget ‘Kheer Ceremony’ on Monday. She will do this a day before she presents the Delhi Budget 2025–26 in the Assembly.

The ceremony marks an auspicious beginning to the Budget Session. It invokes blessings before key financial announcements.

The Chief Minister introduced this ritual last year. She prepared the traditional Indian dessert and offered it to Lord Ram. She then distributed it among officials and contributors involved in the budget process. The practice blends governance with cultural tradition. It creates a distinctive start to legislative proceedings in the national capital.

In the lead-up to the budget, CM Gupta conducted extensive consultations at the Delhi Secretariat. She engaged with gig workers, farmers, rural representatives and labour groups.

She emphasised inclusivity during these interactions. She said public participation remains central to building a developed Delhi. Attendees shared their concerns, expectations and suggestions. The government has assured them that it will incorporate their inputs into policy planning.

The Chief Minister has also indicated plans for future budgets. She said they will include significant initiatives for women and girls.

She spoke at a ‘Nari Utsav’ event. She highlighted the role of women in nation-building. She also reaffirmed her government’s commitment to introducing schemes that support their growth and empowerment.

CM Gupta will present her second consecutive budget on 24 March. She will outline the government’s financial roadmap and development priorities for the coming year.
