Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his deep sorrow over the fire tragedy that struck Gulzar Houz near Charminar in Hyderabad, Telangana.
The horrific blaze claimed eight lives, including those of two children, and left several others injured.
In a post shared by the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Modi stated, “Deeply anguished by the loss of lives due to a fire tragedy in Hyderabad, Telangana. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon.”
The Prime Minister announced an ex gratia amount of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased.
Additionally, he sanctioned ₹50,000 for each injured individual. These relief measures are part of the government’s immediate response to assist families impacted by the tragedy.
Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy, rushed to the site of the accident and interacted with local authorities and rescue teams.
He informed the media that he would personally speak with Prime Minister Modi to request additional support for the victims’ families.
Prominent leaders across party lines joined in mourning the tragic incident.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed his grief in a social media post, stating, “Deeply saddened by the loss of innocent lives in the tragic fire at Gulzar House, Hyderabad. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the swift recovery of the injured.”
BRS working president KT Rama Rao also shared his shock and sympathy, writing, “Extremely shocked and pained!! Details emerging out of Gulzar House fire tragedy in Old City are very sad. My heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of the tragedy. Wishing a speedy recovery to those injured. Hoping and praying that this fire will be contained very soon.”
Emergency services were swiftly mobilised to the site of the incident, promptly battling the blaze and rescuing those trapped inside the building.
In the aftermath, authorities launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire, while simultaneously assessing the structural damage to nearby establishments.
As the city begins to recover, Hyderabad continues to grapple with the emotional and physical toll of this tragic event.
Meanwhile, the swift response from Prime Minister Modi and other leaders underscores the government’s commitment to providing relief and ensuring accountability.
As a result, the nation mourns the lives lost. Looking ahead, the coming days will focus on healing, thorough investigation, and rebuilding public trust in safety infrastructure.
