On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on becoming the longest continuously serving Prime Minister in Italy’s post-war history.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Congratulations to my friend Prime Minister Meloni on becoming the longest continuously serving Prime Minister in Italy’s postwar history.”
The Prime Minister said the milestone reflected the trust and confidence of the Italian people in PM Meloni’s leadership.
PM Modi highlighted her role in strengthening the India-Italy Special Strategic Partnership and said he looked forward to continued cooperation between the two countries.

PM Meloni became Italy’s first woman Prime Minister after taking office on October 22, 2022. Her government completed 1,413 days in office on Friday, surpassing the previous record held by former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
PM Modi wished PM Meloni continued success in the years ahead and said both countries should work together to build a prosperous future for their people.
PM Modi’s official visit to Italy in May elevated India-Italy relations to a Special Strategic Partnership, with meetings with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and President Sergio Mattarella.
