PM Modi Chairs High-Level Meeting To Review Reform Agenda, Governance

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting with Secretaries of all Central government Ministries and departments at Seva Teerth on Tuesday to review the government’s next-generation administrative and economic reform agenda.

The Cabinet Secretary, Principal Secretaries PK Mishra and Shaktikanta Das, along with Secretaries from various Ministries, attended the meeting, one of the first full-Secretary-level interactions with the Prime Minister in the current fiscal (FY27).

The meeting sought to align the bureaucracy with the government’s key policy priorities for the second half of 2026.

Two broad themes dominated the discussions: deregulation and other reforms to improve the ease of doing business and ease of living, and the promotion of Aatmanirbharta to strengthen India’s self-reliance.

During the interaction, Secretaries briefed the Prime Minister on initiatives being undertaken by their respective Ministries in line with the two focus areas, while highlighting sector-specific challenges and future strategies to improve governance and public service delivery.

Prime Minister Modi stressed the need for greater teamwork, a whole-of-government approach and the removal of departmental silos. He also encouraged wider use of the PM GatiShakti platform for integrated planning, coordination and decision-making.

The Prime Minister emphasised that government programmes should deliver tangible benefits for citizens and urged officials to remain focused on achieving visible and timely outcomes.

The meeting marked his second comprehensive interaction with the country’s top civil servants and comes amid the Centre’s ’52 Reforms in 52 Weeks’ initiative across several Ministries, including Railways.

The review also provided an opportunity to assess implementation progress, address challenges and strengthen coordination to improve public service delivery, reduce regulatory burdens and enhance the ease of doing business and ease of living.
