Meghalaya Government Orders Probe
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma responded by assuring that the Meghalaya government has commissioned a thorough investigation into the accident.
He emphasised that authorities will determine responsibility and hold all accountable parties to strict legal consequences.
“The state has initiated a comprehensive inquiry. Those responsible will be held liable under the law,” Sangma declared. He stressed that public safety remains paramount and the government will take all necessary administrative and legal measures in line with the inquiry’s findings.
Sangma further added, “In this period of grief, the government stands united with all affected families.”

He noted that search and rescue operations continue at the site. Officials said the PMNRF will promptly disburse ex gratia relief.
