PM Modi Announces ₹1,500 Crore Relief For Flood-Hit Himachal Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday visited disaster-hit Himachal Pradesh and reviewed the devastation caused by cloudbursts, heavy rains and landslides. He announced a financial assistance of ₹1,500 crore for the state.

PM Modi also declared an ex gratia of ₹2 lakh to the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 to those seriously injured in the Himachal Pradesh floods.

The Prime Minister conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas.

Later, he held an official meeting to assess the situation and review the relief and rehabilitation measures undertaken in Himachal Pradesh.

The Prime Minister confirmed that the Centre would release the second instalment of the SDRF in advance, along with the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi.

Relief and Rehabilitation Measures

PM Modi directed officials to adopt a multi-dimensional approach to help the people and the region recover.

Plans include rebuilding homes under the PM Awas Yojana, restoring national highways, repairing schools, and providing relief under the PMNRF. The government will also distribute mini kits for livestock.

Special focus will be given to farmers lacking power connections. Damaged houses will be geo-tagged to ensure accurate assessment and timely delivery of aid.

Schools will also be allowed to report and geo-tag damages to receive assistance under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. Recharge structures for rainwater harvesting will be constructed to improve groundwater levels and strengthen water management in the state.

Centre’s Support and Condolences

The Union government has already deployed Inter-Ministerial Central teams to assess the extent of the damage. Based on their detailed reports and the state’s memorandum, further assistance will be provided.

PM Modi also met families affected by the calamity. He expressed his condolences to those who lost their loved ones in the Himachal Pradesh floods.

The Prime Minister assured that the Centre would extend all possible support to the state government during this difficult time.

PM Modi appreciated the efforts of the NDRF, SDRF, the Indian Army, state officials, and service organisations for their quick response and relief operations.

The Central government will continue to review the situation and make all efforts to address the crisis.
