Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new BJP-led NDA government in Assam on May 12, state BJP president Dilip Saikia said on Thursday.
The oath-taking ceremony will take place at the Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara, Guwahati, and will likely begin at 11 AM.
Saikia said the event is likely to draw more than one lakh people, with large-scale participation anticipated from BJP supporters and NDA workers across the state.
According to him, PM Modi will likely arrive at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport at around 10.15 AM before proceeding to the venue through the Narengi helipad.
Apart from PM Modi and Shah, former BJP national president JP Nadda, several Union ministers, chief ministers and deputy chief ministers from NDA-ruled states are also expected to attend the ceremony.
Saikia said both the BJP organisation and the state government are closely supervising preparations for the programme, with senior party leaders and ministers assigned various responsibilities related to arrangements and crowd management.
The Assam BJP President also announced that meetings of the BJP Legislature Party and NDA Legislature Party would take place on May 10 ahead of the formation of the new government.
The meetings are likely to formally elect the new leader of the legislature party. Reports said Nadda and Nayab Singh Saini will attend the meetings.
