PM Modi, Amit Shah, JP Nadda Extend Greetings On Rongali Bihu

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his greetings to people in Assam and the Assamese community worldwide on the occasion of Rongali Bihu, describing it as a lively celebration that reflects renewal, prosperity and unity.

Taking to X, PM Modi highlighted the cultural vibrancy of the festival and its role in showcasing Assamese traditions, while expressing hope for a year filled with success, happiness and good health.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also greeted the people on Bohag Bihu, noting that the festival marks the start of a new phase filled with hope and progress. He wished for happiness, prosperity and well-being for all.

Bihu is the principal cultural festival of Assam and is celebrated by communities across the state. It comprises three distinct festivals linked to the agricultural cycle.

People observe Rongali Bihu, also known as Bohag Bihu, as the most prominent of the festivals in mid-April, marking the Assamese New Year and the arrival of spring.

The celebrations typically span several days and include traditional dance and music performances, community feasts and the exchange of the symbolic Assamese Gamocha.

The festival reflects the region’s deep-rooted cultural heritage and its connection to nature, bringing people together in a spirit of joy, renewal and togetherness.
