Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote to citizens across Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Delhi on the occasion of Chaitra Navratri and the Hindu New Year.
In his letter, he further extended warm wishes, stating, “On the sacred and auspicious occasion of the New Year and Chaitra Navratri, I extend my heartfelt greetings to you and your family.”
Highlighting the importance of Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, the Prime Minister said it marks the beginning of Yugabda 5128 and Vikram Samvat 2083. He described the traditional calendar as a symbol of India’s enduring cultural vitality and ancient scientific system of timekeeping.
PM Modi said Chaitra Navratri offers an opportunity for devotion, discipline, and spiritual reflection, with many devotees observing fasts and practising restraint. He added that Navratri celebrates the nine forms of Maa Shakti and reflects India’s philosophy of unity in diversity.
