Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended birthday greetings to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, praising him for working tirelessly towards the state’s development and fulfilling the vision of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray and late leader Anand Dighe.

The Prime Minister conveyed his wishes through a post on the social media platform X, recalling Shinde’s ideological roots and long association with the Shiv Sena’s founding leadership.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Birthday wishes to Shri Eknath Shinde Ji. He is working tirelessly towards furthering Maharashtra’s development and realising the dreams of Pujya Balasaheb Thackeray and Dharamveer Anand Dighe. Praying for his long life and good health.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also highlighted Shinde’s work for the people of Maharashtra and prayed for his well-being.

“Heartiest birthday wishes to the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri @mieknathshinde,” he posted on X.

The post further read, “You are continuously carrying out commendable work in the direction of the state’s development and public welfare. May Ganpati Bappa bless you with excellent health and long life.”

Born on February 9, 1964, in Dare village of Satara district, Shinde grew up in Thane after his family moved there. Introduced to politics by Anand Dighe in the early 1980s, he rose through the ranks of the Shiv Sena, becoming a key labour leader and later a prominent figure in Maharashtra politics.

Shinde was first elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 2004 and went on to serve multiple ministerial roles.

In 2022, he led a split in the Shiv Sena, formed a government with the BJP, and became Chief Minister.

Additionally, in 2024, he took oath as Deputy Chief Minister under the Devendra Fadnavis-led government.
