After a turbulent first week of the Winter Session, with proceedings disrupted until 29 November, both Houses of Parliament are likely to reconvene on Monday at 11 AM.
The Winter Session has so far been marred by protests from opposition parties over issues such as the Adani Group allegations, violence in Manipur, and the Sambhal incident.
Ahead of the session’s resumption, floor leaders of the INDIA bloc are likely to meet at the office of Congress President and Rajya Sabha Opposition Leader Mallikarjun Kharge.
Congress MP Manickam Tagore submitted an Adjournment Motion notice in Lok Sabha to raise the Adani issue.
Tagore stated, “I hereby seek leave to move an adjournment motion to discuss a matter of urgent public importance, namely the recent allegations of corruption, bribery, and securities fraud involving the Adani Group and its leadership.”
Similarly, Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi has filed a Suspension of Business notice in the Rajya Sabha to discuss violence in Sambhal and a plea related to Ajmer Sharif Dargah.
Bills On The Agenda
According to the schedule released by the secretariat, Sitharaman is likely to propose amendments to the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, the State Bank of India Act, 1955, and the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Acts of 1970 and 1980 for consideration and passage in the Lok Sabha today.
Other legislative business includes the Coastal Shipping Bill, 2024, which Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will present to enhance regulation and promote domestic coastal trade.
Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is also to move a bill amending the Railways Act, 1989.
In the Rajya Sabha, Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri will table the Oilfields (Regulation and Development) Amendment Bill, 2024, while Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu will introduce a bill to regulate aircraft-related operations.
Several Union Ministers will address key topics during the session. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is likely to speak on India’s evolving relations with China, while Minister of State for Skill Development Jayant Chaudhary will present updates on the SANKALP Project’s implementation.
Starting on 25 November, the Winter Session will continue until 20 December.
