Parents Opt for ‘Muhurat’ Child Delivery Aligned with Consecration of Ram Lalla Idol

In anticipation of an “auspicious” beginning for their newborns, numerous couples strategically planned ‘muhurat deliveries’ in consultation with doctors on Monday, coinciding with the consecration of the Ram Lalla idol in the Ayodhya Ram temple.

While many newborns delivered on this day were bestowed with names like ‘Ram’ and ‘Sita’, a heartwarming instance occurred in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, where a baby boy born to a Muslim family at the district hospital was named Ram Rahim by his grandmother, Husna Banu. This unique choice aimed to convey a message of Hindu-Muslim unity.

In Karnataka’s Vijayapura, the JSS Super Speciality Hospital, operated by the Shri Siddeshwar Loka Kalyana Charitable Trust, received special requests from over 50 pregnant women to schedule deliveries on January 22, considering it Lord Ram’s Day. The hospital successfully conducted over 20 deliveries on this significant day, responding to the requests after careful consideration of the mothers’ medical conditions.

The hospital’s Head of HR, Leelavati CA, shared, “Today alone, we have carried out the delivery of more than 20 women so far, and still, operation theaters are full, and scanning is still being carried out to schedule the next line of deliveries.”

Families across the country embraced the symbolic timing of childbirth. Ashwini Bagli, who delivered on this auspicious day, expressed, “It’s an auspicious day, and our family wanted to get the delivery done on a historic day when Lord Ram is back in Ayodhya. I gave birth to a baby girl on this auspicious day, and so, we are planning to name our baby Sita.”

The hospital, in response to the cultural significance of the day, offered free delivery for newborns from January 18 to January 22, resulting in over 100 deliveries during this period. A “cradle ceremony” organized on January 22 featured three newborns named after the revered trio of Lord Ram, Sita, and Lakshman.

The trend of ‘muhurat deliveries’ extended nationwide, with expectant parents expressing their gratitude and belief in the auspicious nature of the day. Whether through planned C-sections or natural childbirth, families found joy in welcoming their newborns on this historic and spiritually significant day.
