As the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election is approaching near, the Bhartiya Janta Party seemingly finalised the much-awaited name for its state president. Pankaj Choudhary, the current Union Minister of State for Finance, filed his nomination on Saturday for the UP BJP President Election.
Party sources indicate that Pankaj Choudhary is is set to take over as the next UP BJP chief since no other candidate has filed a nomination after him. He may be announced as the State President on Sunday officially.
Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, was his proposer during nomination, along with both the Deputy CMs Keshav Prashad Mourya and Brajesh Pathak.
Additionally, BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde, former Union Minister Smriti Irani, and Uttar Pradesh government ministers Swatantra Dev Singh, Surya Pratap Shahi, Suresh Khanna, and Baby Rani Maurya were also present.
Pankaj Choudhary Has Cross Border Influence
A Seasoned Politician, Maharajganj MP Pankaj Choudhary, who lost the election only twice-1999 and 2009- has succeeded in winning the seat seven times since 1999, comes from the Kurmi caste. Apart from the sitting constituency, he influences the neighbouring districts like Sidhdharth Nagar, and the country Nepal.
Choudhary has a deep strong hold in the Purvanchal region and has a deeper influence among the OBC communities.
Experienced in organisation and governance, Choudhary could be the player BJP needs for the upcoming UP Polls, after a major setback in the Loksabha Election 2024.
