Palaniswami To Meet Amit Shah In Delhi As AIADMK-BJP Seat Talks Enter Final Phase

AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami will travel to New Delhi on Thursday to advance crucial seat-sharing talks with the BJP, which have entered their final phase ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. He will hold high-level discussions with senior BJP leaders in the national capital.

Palaniswami will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah to negotiate constituency allocation between the two parties. The visit marks a decisive step towards finalising the alliance framework.

With the Election Commission announcing the poll schedule, political activity across Tamil Nadu has intensified.

Parties have accelerated efforts to conclude alliance negotiations and begin full-scale campaigning.

The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has already made significant progress, finalising seat-sharing arrangements with key allies such as the Congress and the CPI, while talks with other partners are near completion.

In contrast, the AIADMK-BJP alliance has yet to officially announce its seat-sharing formula, making Palaniswami’s Delhi visit politically significant. Both parties aim to reach a mutually acceptable arrangement that reflects their electoral strengths and priorities.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who oversees the BJP’s Tamil Nadu election strategy, will visit Chennai later this week to resolve pending issues, including finalising constituencies and coordinating campaign plans.

Political observers say the outcome of Palaniswami’s Delhi meetings will shape the AIADMK-BJP alliance’s electoral prospects.

With limited time before campaigning gathers pace, both parties face pressure to conclude negotiations quickly. The discussions in the national capital will now determine the final contours of the AIADMK-BJP alliance for the upcoming Assembly elections.
