Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday addressed the Lok Sabha, stating that over 3,75,000 Indians have safely returned from West Asia, including nearly 1,000 from Iran.
He reaffirmed that the government will provide full assistance to citizens affected by the ongoing conflict.
Speaking on the crisis, Modi noted that approximately one crore Indians live and work in Gulf countries, while a significant number of Indian crew members operate on commercial ships in the region, making their safety a priority.
The Prime Minister highlighted that since the outbreak of conflict, Indian missions have been continuously assisting citizens, whether workers, tourists, or students.
He assured families of the deceased and injured that support and medical care are being provided promptly.
Modi added that he personally held discussions with West Asian leaders, who assured full safety for Indians.
Focusing on students, the Prime Minister said that CBSE examinations for Classes 10 and 12 in Indian schools across the Gulf have been cancelled.
Authorities are implementing measures to ensure students’ education continues uninterrupted despite the crisis.
Modi underlined that national vigilance, citizen safety, and humanitarian support remain the government’s top priorities.
Over 3,75,000 Indians have returned safely since the conflict began, with the government ready to provide aid wherever needed.
Across India, the government’s proactive measures and missions’ round-the-clock efforts are reflecting the state’s commitment to protect its citizens abroad, ensuring security, assistance, and continuity in challenging times.
