The “Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry” (APAAR) is the term used to refer to it for all students, from pre-kindergarten through university.
Permanent identification for students
The Education Ecosystem Registry, or edulocker, also known as the APAAR ID, is meant to be used as a permanent identification number that will follow students’ academic progress. It will serve as a global mechanism for storing and retrieving information on student progress throughout their academic careers, including documents and data.
Additionally, with the new Aadhar card, a birth certificate will now be the sole document needed for citizenship and DBS reasons throughout life. As such, please tell ASPA schools to take this seriously, as there won’t be any other way to obtain citizenship in a few years except through a birth certificate.
In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Union Ministry has devised a scheme to assign distinct ID numbers to pupils attending schools throughout India.
“For students throughout India, the QR code will be APAAR and the National Credit Framework. Every skill students acquire would be recognised here, according to AICTE Chairman T G Sitharaman.
Assist students digitally
In addition, the system is designed to assist students in digitally storing their Olympiad results, sports results, and test results, and to monitor student dropout rates so that they can be mainstreamed.
Approval by parents
Parents’ approval will be required for registration into this educational ecosystem, and states and UTs have been instructed to start the procedure for that.
The letter from the Ministry to the Commissioner of Education adds, “The Ministry of Education will generate APAAR ID based on the Aadhaar number of each student for which separate consent of the parents is required.”
Schools are required to host extra parent-teacher conferences from 16-18 October in order to inform and raise awareness of the APAAR ID. The parents have the option to revoke their consent at any moment, and the government has guaranteed that the information would be kept private
