On November 30, PM Modi will go to Dubai to attend the World Climate Action Summit

This week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will go to Dubai for a two-day visit to a global climate change meeting. The gathering’s objectives include cutting emissions and assisting developing nations in coping with harsh weather.

As part of the 28th meeting of the UN “Conference of the Parties” on climate change, or COP28, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit Dubai on November 30 and December 1 to attend the World Climate Action Summit, according to a statement released on Sunday by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

The climate action conference is expected to bring together a number of world leaders to debate strategies for cutting greenhouse gas emissions and effectively addressing climate change. PM Modi is anticipated to draw attention to India’s aggressive climate agenda and other challenges at the summit.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be travelling to Dubai, the UAE from November 30 to December 1 at the invitation of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and the ruler of Abu Dhabi, to attend the World Climate Action Summit,” according to the MEA. The high-level portion of COP28 is called the World Climate Action Summit. Under the UAE’s presidency, the COP28 is taking place from November 28 to December 12.

According to the MEA, the COP28 offers a singular chance to galvanize cooperation in the fight against the common threat posed by climate change. “During COP-26 in Glasgow, the prime minister had announced five specific targets, titled ‘Panchamrit’, as India’s unprecedented contribution to climate action,” added the statement.

“The prime minister had also announced Mission Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) on that occasion,” stated the statement. “Climate change has been an important priority area of India’s G20 presidency, and significant new steps have been captured in the New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration and other outcomes during our presidency,” it stated.

According to the MEA, the COP28 will offer a chance to build on “these successes”. India made a significant push to provide developing nations with climate funding so they could address the issue of climate change while it was the G20 presidency.

According to officials, climate finance will be discussed at the World Climate Action Summit as well. PM Modi will also meet one-on-one with a few of the summit’s participating leaders.
