A class 7 student from Rajasthan’s Alwar was admitted to a disability institution consequent to his addiction to PUBG-like games. The 15-year-old persistently screamed “fire, fire” while he was asleep and his hands continued to shake, imitating the motions of playing an online game on a mobile scream. It wasn’t anger over excessive gaming that prompted his parents to send him to the special care centre, but their concern for their child’s mental health.
According to the reports, the teen played mobile games for 15 hours regularly for six months, which led to severely affecting his mental health. The consequences of his addiction led to the deterioration of his mental health to the point that getting treatment became essential. As a result, the boy’s parents have admitted him to a hostel at a disability institution. The boy is currently attaining adequate medical attention from the team of psychiatrists and doctors that are working with him. There has been a noticeable improvement in his condition under their care.
The boy’s mother works as a domestic helper, while his father pulls a rickshaw. They initially attempted to restrict his excessive indulgence in mobile gaming for a duration of two months. Despite their efforts, the 15-year-old managed to persistently engage in playing games similar to PUBG on his mobile device.
Upon realizing that their son’s obsession has become uncontrollable, the family sought medical assistance at a hospital in Jaipur.
