NSA Ajit Doval: India-China Relations Crucial For The Region And World  

NSA emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to fully resolve the situation and restore peace and tranquility in the border areas, so as to remove impediments to normalcy in bilateral relations.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval had a meeting Wang Yi, director of the Office of the foreign affairs commission of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. The meeting took place in the sidelines of BRICS summit. India’s NSA very clearly explained that the activities conducted by Chinese government along the LAC (Line of Actual Control) since the year 2020 has eroded India’s trust over time. He further stated that India-China relations hold a curial place in the region as well as the world.

India-China relations crucial for the globe

This meeting allowed NSA to discuss on India-China relations. The ministry of external affairs reported, “During the meeting, NSA conveyed that the situation along the LAC in the Western Sector of the India-China boundary since 2020 had eroded strategic trust and the public and political basis of the relationship.”

“NSA emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to fully resolve the situation and restore peace and tranquility in the border areas, so as to remove impediments to normalcy in bilateral relations. The two sides agreed that the India-China bilateral relationship is significant not only for the two countries but also for the region and world,” it added.

Wang’s meeting with Jaishankar

Days prior, Wang and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met in Jakarta, Indonesia, to discuss unresolved matters pertaining to peace and tranquilly in border regions. The military standoff between India and China has lasted for more than three years, and Jaishankar has called it the most difficult task of his lengthy diplomatic career.

India has insisted that peace in the border region is a need for the normalisation of the two countries’ relations. The two sides should focus on consensus and cooperation, remove hurdles, and put bilateral ties back on the path of sound and stable growth as soon as possible, Wang said during the meeting with Doval, according to China’s state-run news agency Xinhua.
