On the day after attending the swearing-in ceremony of the new Congress government in Karnataka, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met his Delhi counterpart and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal at the latter’s residence.
Kejriwal was one of the few non-BJP chief ministers who were not invited to the event, which opposition parties saw as a show of strength.
Kumar met with Kejriwal as part of his efforts to build a wider coalition of opposition parties to challenge the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
Tejashwi Yadav, Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader was also present at the meeting.

This is Kumar and Kejriwal’s second meeting in over a month. On April 12, the Janata Dal (United) leader met with Delhi’s chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
With Kejriwal’s relationship with the Congress strained, Kumar must forge a working relationship between the two, since he sees the grand old party as vital to any Opposition unity bid.
The AAP has grown in Delhi and Punjab by occupying the space that was once mostly considered Congress turf. Some constituency is critical to the party’s recovery in these states, and any compromise with it will jeopardize their ambitions.
Kumar has been meeting with provincial satraps as part of a unifying exercise that has yet to take shape.
