Varanasi: On Friday, on the occasion of the Mahashivratri festival, a huge crowd of devotees gathered for a Ganga bath, darshan, and worship at Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham. NDRF rescue personnel have been deployed at all major Ganga ghats for the safety of devotees.
Given the number of devotees, NDRF teams have been deployed at Namo Ghat, Rajghat, Shitala Ghat, Manikarnika Ghat, Lalita Ghat, Prayag Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat, Tripurabhairavi Ghat, Manmandir Ghat and nearby ghats in river Ganga. Along with this, patrolling is also being done in Ganga through boats. NDRF medical team along with water ambulance is deployed at various ghats for first aid and assistance to the devotees.
Apart from this, given the huge number of devotees and security, the NDRF team has also been deployed in Markandeya Mahadev, Kaithi in river Ganga. Deputy Inspector General 11 NDRF Manoj Kumar Sharma said that Dr. Vivek Singh of NDRF, Deputy Commandant is present with the medical team in the camp at Dashashwamedh Ghat. During this period, along with a free medical camp, first aid facilities are also being provided to the devotees visiting the ghat.

He said that two teams of NDRF along with 20 boats and rescue personnel are deployed at the major ghats of Varanasi. Moreover, divers and paramedic staff are present with deep diving sets, life jackets, and other modern rescue equipment.
The Deputy Inspector General has appealed to the people that all the devotees should celebrate the great festival with full enthusiasm while taking precautions and following the instructions given by the administration. NDRF is deployed with full dedication for security to make this festival a success and to deal with any untoward incident.
