NDMC Responds Swiftly To 61 Complaints During Pre-Dawn Storm

The New Delhi Municipal Council’s (NDMC) Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) sprang into action early Friday morning as a pre-dawn squall and rainfall triggered 61 complaints from residents.

These included reports of fallen trees, waterlogging, and electricity disruptions across several localities under NDMC’s jurisdiction.

Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal confirmed that the ICCC received 25 complaints related to fallen trees or branches, 12 regarding waterlogging, and 24 concerning electricity supply issues.

He monitored the field operations live, reviewed data trends, and directed officials to resolve all grievances swiftly to minimise public inconvenience.

“Real-time monitoring and a timely response are essential to ensure that our citizens remain safe and well-supported during such incidents,” said Chahal.

Affected Areas Across New Delhi

Incidents involving fallen trees were primarily reported from areas such as North Avenue, Sardar Patel Marg, Jor Bagh, RK Puram, Teen Murti, the Rail Museum, Lodhi Colony, Akbar Road, India Gate, and Connaught Place.

Meanwhile, complaints of waterlogging came in from Shanti Path, Kalibari, Mandir Marg, BKS Marg, Akbar Road, Pandara Road, Teen Murti, and Jor Bagh.

Chahal clarified that the majority of complaints were resolved promptly.

For issues outside NDMC’s purview, the ICCC promptly redirected them to the relevant agencies for further action.

ICCC: The Digital Nerve Centre Of NDMC

Chahal praised the ICCC, calling it the ‘digital nerve centre’ of NDMC.

He noted that the centre enables real-time data monitoring, alert generation, decision-making, and emergency coordination.

Highlighting its emergency response features, he stressed the role of the NDMC Mobile App in facilitating swift complaint registration and resolution.

Additionally, the ICCC utilised its extensive CCTV surveillance network, comprising 500 cameras, to monitor key areas throughout the storm.

Officials also had access to a remote system that allowed them to activate or deactivate water pumps in real time, ensuring immediate relief in waterlogged areas.

Commitment To Citizen-Centric Governance

Chahal commended NDMC teams for their quick, coordinated, and citizen-focused response during the weather emergency.

Reiterating NDMC’s commitment to uninterrupted civic services, he aligned the council’s efforts with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of proactive, transparent, and responsive urban governance.
