Navratri 2026 Day 5: PM Modi Shares Wishes, Seeks Maa Skandamata’s Blessings For All

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended greetings to the nation on the fifth day of Shardiya Navratri, dedicated to Maa Skandamata, and prayed for love and harmony in every family.

In a post on X, PM Modi said the day was devoted to the worship of Maa Skandamata, the fifth form of Goddess Durga. He further expressed hope that the blessings of the Goddess, revered for her maternal affection and tenderness, would fill every household with love and harmony.

The Prime Minister also shared a devotional bhajan by Vijay Durga and a prayer that pays tribute to the Goddess, worshipped as a symbol of divine power.

Maa Skandamata represents motherhood, compassion, affection and purity.

Artists traditionally depict her seated on a lion, holding lotus flowers, with her son Kartikeya on her lap. Devotees, however, seek her blessings for family happiness, spiritual growth and success.

Devotees mark the fifth day of Navratri with prayers, temple visits and offerings to the Goddess.

Many devotees offer flowers, fruits and bhog, with yellow and saffron-coloured items associated with the worship of Maa Skandamata.

Navratri, meaning ‘nine nights’ in Sanskrit, celebrates Goddess Durga and her nine forms, collectively known as Navdurga.

Across India, devotees observe rituals and seek blessings for protection, prosperity and well-being throughout the nine-day festival.

Through his message, PM Modi highlighted the values of love, harmony and compassion, expressing hope that Maa Skandamata’s blessings would strengthen family bonds and bring happiness to people across the country.
