Navratri 2026: CM Yogi Highlights Maa Kaalratri’s Message, Women’s Safety In UP

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday invoked Maa Kaalratri’s symbolism of the destruction of evil and the triumph of righteousness, linking the goddess’s message to his government’s claims of improved law and order and women’s safety in the state.

In a post on X marking the seventh day of Shardiya Navratri, CM Yogi said Maa Kaalratri, the seventh form of Goddess Durga, represents the destruction of demons and negative forces, establishes righteousness and grants fearlessness to her devotees.

Drawing a parallel with the goddess’s battle against evil, the Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh had faced fear and lawlessness before 2017 because of mafia elements, rioters and criminals. He claimed that the state government’s zero-tolerance policy towards crime over the past nine and a half years had strengthened the rule of law and created a safer environment.

CM Yogi highlighted initiatives aimed at women’s security, including Mission Shakti, the 1090 helpline, women’s beat policing and the Safe City Project. He further said these measures had helped improve safety for women at home, on the streets, in educational institutions and at workplaces.

The Chief Minister cited a reduction in police response time from 65 minutes in 2016 to five minutes, describing it as evidence of faster action to maintain law and order. He further linked improved security to greater participation by women in the workforce, claiming that their labour force participation had risen from 12% to more than 36%.

CM Yogi said women’s growing involvement in agriculture, industry, services and entrepreneurship was contributing to Uttar Pradesh’s economic development. He concluded his message with the invocation, ‘Jai Maa Kaalratri’.

The seventh day of Shardiya Navratri, observed as Saptami, is dedicated to Maa Kaalratri, who is worshipped as a protector against fear, darkness and negative forces.
