Nationwide Campaign Conducts Over 2.83 Lakh Medical Camps Under ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’

The Union government’s flagship health drive, ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan,’ which commenced on September 17, has already facilitated more than 2.83 lakh medical outreach camps across India by September 20.

The initiative focuses on the detection and prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) while extending counselling and diagnostic assistance to citizens.

Within a few days of operations, over 76 lakh individuals have availed themselves of services at these camps.

Examinations included checks for hypertension, reaching more than 37 lakh people. Diabetes screenings for over 35 lakh Indians were done along with cancer evaluations for women.

More than 9 lakh women underwent breast cancer screening, and around 4.7 lakh were tested for cervical cancer.

Meanwhile, oral cancer checks benefited upwards of 16 lakh participants.

Extensive Screenings Benefit Millions of Citizens

Additional health activities included more than 18 lakh prenatal examinations, immunisation of over 51 lakh children, anaemia screening for 15 lakh+ citizens, tuberculosis testing for over 22 lakh people and sickle cell disease detection for more than 2.3 lakh individuals.

Blood donation campaigns witnessed registrations from over 1.6 lakh volunteers, and upwards of 4.7 lakh new Ayushman Bharat/PM-JAY health cards were issued.

The medical drives were hosted by National Health Mission centres, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Institutes of National Importance, tertiary care hospitals and medical colleges, along with participation from private healthcare organisations.

Together, they have conducted 3,410 speciality health camps serving more than 5.8 lakh beneficiaries.

Furthermore, delivering advanced diagnostics, treatment facilities and advisory services alongside routine check-ups.

The expansive drive works to fortify India’s approach to non-communicable disease management, highlighting early assessment and prompt care.

Considering the growing load of chronic disorders, wide screenings are indispensable to control prolonged health risks.

Observers argue that quality control, timely re-examinations and inclusive outreach in backward areas must be preserved. Consistent momentum will shape lasting outcomes in public health.

At its core, the initiative has already proven significant outreach, reaching millions during its launch phase.

Sustained efforts could make it central to India’s health roadmap for tackling non-communicable ailments and strengthening women’s care.
