Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav on Tuesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi, discussing key issues related to the state’s administration and progress.
Officials confirmed that the Governor also interacted with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla during his visit.
According to Lok Bhavan sources in Kohima, these engagements marked Yadav’s first courtesy meetings with senior Union leadership after assuming office as Nagaland’s Governor.
During these discussions, he expressed gratitude and reiterated his resolve to advance development, peace, and inclusive growth in the state.
Since taking the oath as the 23rd Governor on March 13, Yadav has actively toured various regions, engaging with diverse communities across Nagaland. He previously highlighted the Centre’s renewed emphasis on the Northeast, citing increased investment in connectivity, infrastructure, and economic expansion.
Nand Kishore Yadav emphasised that government initiatives are broadening opportunities while integrating the region into India’s wider growth trajectory, without compromising its cultural heritage.
Yadav noted steady progress in sectors such as infrastructure, education, agriculture, tourism, digital connectivity, and entrepreneurship. He stated that these advancements are enhancing economic prospects and improving living standards.
The Governor also praised Nagaland’s youth for excelling in education, sports, arts, entrepreneurship, and public service, acknowledging their dynamism and potential.
Yadav began his public journey with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in 1969 and later joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.
A senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader, he has served multiple terms as MLA and held key roles in Bihar politics.
