Muslim Rashtriya Manch: Citizenship Amendment Act Grants Respect and Rights

In a strong show of support, the Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) has voiced its full endorsement of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in India. Shahid Sayeed, the national spokesperson, lauds the CAA as a significant step toward the nation’s progress, peace, and security, highlighting its alignment with legal frameworks observed in several countries worldwide. He applauds the government’s decision to enact the legislation during the auspicious month of Ramzan, emphasizing its aim to grant citizenship without infringing upon existing citizenship rights.

Mohammad Afzal, the forum’s national convener, passionately urges fellow Muslims to embrace the CAA, assuring them that it guarantees respect and rights. He emphasizes that the law is not intended to adversely affect Muslims and criticizes certain political entities for prioritizing personal gains over national interests and security.

During a four-day workshop in Bhopal last year, under the chairmanship of Chief Patron Indresh Kumar, the MRM passed resolutions on various issues, including the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and the CAA. The CAA aims to offer citizenship to six religious minorities who arrived in India before December 2014 from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.

The book “Indian Muslims: The Foundation of Unity – Hubbul Watani (Nationality),” authored by esteemed Indian Muslim scholars, meticulously outlines the MRM’s stance on various sensitive issues. Shahid Akhtar, the book’s editor and national coordinator of the MRM, underscores its significance as a comprehensive reference and research guide. It offers profound insights into the role of Indian Muslims within both constitutional and Islamic frameworks.

Covering a range of topics including equality among religions, the Uniform Civil Code, Shariat and one country one law, Indian Muslim traditions, culture, identity, the role of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Muslim population in India, and more, the book emphasizes the commitment to “Nation First” and the paramount importance of unity, integrity, sovereignty, and harmony.

According to the MRM, the book serves as a beacon for promoting unity, education, and progress while countering narratives of hatred and violence propagated by certain political entities and religious extremists. It aims to dispel misconceptions and foster a path of truth and peace, reconnecting Indian Muslims to their roots. “Indian Muslims: Hubbul Watani (Nationalism)” is presented as a guide toward freedom from divisive influences and a testament to the unity found in embracing shared values.
