In a significant move towards promoting global peace and unity, the Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) convened its 15-member National Convener Council today via an online meeting.
The session, held on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, focused on delivering a strong message of harmony, collective responsibility, and environmental stewardship in light of the ongoing global unrest.
Shahid Sayeed, National Convener and Media In-charge of the MRM, opened the meeting by highlighting the symbolic importance of Dussehra, emphasizing the need for solidarity and justice.
“Dussehra inspires us to embrace truth, faith, and justice,” Sayeed remarked. “As we commemorate the victory of good over evil, we must unite to safeguard humanity against the forces of war and division. Today, we are called to conquer the ‘Ravana’ within ourselves, fostering a spirit of understanding and compassion.”
Sayeed emphasizes that leaders from diverse faiths consistently advocate for non-violence, underscoring peace as a universal value shared across religions.
He drew parallels between the teachings of Lord Ram in Hinduism and Prophet Muhammad in Islam, both of whom champion peace and goodwill.
He also invoked figures like Guru Nanak, Mahatma Buddha, and Jesus Christ, all of whom chose paths of non-violence and compassion.
Sayeed asked, “If all religions and communities champion unity and harmony, why do we struggle to defeat the ‘devil’ within? How long will we toy with the essence of humanity and the divine world we inhabit?”
Global Appeal For Peace
Reflecting on the ongoing conflicts in regions like Israel-Palestine, Ukraine, and the Middle East, the council expressed deep concern over the devastating human and environmental toll of war.
National Convener Dr. Shahid Akhtar commented, “War not only devastates lives but also erodes our cultural and moral heritage.”
The MRM called on global leaders to engage in constructive dialogue, urging them to prioritize peaceful resolutions over further violence.
Dr. Akhtar also announced that the MRM would spearhead an international campaign advocating for peace in these regions.
Condemnation Of China’s Aggression
In addition to discussing war-torn areas, the meeting condemned China’s expansionist policies, which the MRM warned pose a significant threat to regional and global stability.
The organization called on the global community to oppose any such moves that disrupt peace, urging nations to work together to foster international harmony.
Addressing The Environmental Fallout Of War
The council also focused on the environmental impact of war, as highlighted by National Convener Mohammad Afzal.
He pointed to the pollution, water contamination, and displacement of wildlife that are direct consequences of armed conflict.
Afzal stressed the urgent need for environmental protection, announcing that the MRM would launch an awareness campaign focusing on the ecological restoration of war-affected areas.
“War not only harms human life, but it also endangers the planet we share with future generations,” Afzal warned.
Inclusivity & Brotherhood In India
Dr. Shalini Ali, who leads the MRM’s Women’s Wing, emphasized the importance of fostering unity in India’s multicultural society.
She announced that the MRM would launch initiatives designed to bring together people from all backgrounds, promoting mutual respect and understanding across religious and cultural lines.
“Inclusivity is key to national unity,” she stated, “and we must celebrate our diversity while working towards shared harmony.”
Stark Statistics Of War’s Toll
Dr. Majid Taliqoti presented a stark overview of the human cost of ongoing global conflicts, citing figures from the Israel-Palestine and Ukraine-Russia wars.
Thousands have lost their lives, and millions have been displaced, with far-reaching effects on public health, the environment, and mental well-being.
He pointed to rising pollution, which he said is exacerbating disease and mental health crises worldwide.
Key Resolutions From The Meeting
Several important initiatives were set in motion during the meeting:
- International Peace Campaign: The MRM will launch a global campaign to spread the message of peace, particularly focusing on conflict regions.
- Environmental Conservation: The organization will lead efforts to raise awareness of the environmental devastation caused by wars, with a focus on restoration projects.
- Inclusivity Initiatives: Collaboration with religious and cultural groups will be encouraged to promote respect for diversity.
- War Awareness Campaign: The MRM will also work on educating the public about the far-reaching consequences of war, emphasizing the need for dialogue and reconciliation.
Spreading The Message Of Dussehra
As part of its broader outreach, the MRM plans to use Dussehra’s message of the triumph of good over evil to foster unity across religious divides.
Organizers will host special programs to bring people of different faiths together, focusing on the shared values of peace and harmony.
Shahid Sayeed concluded the meeting with a call to action, asserting, “The resolutions from this National Convener Council meeting reaffirm that without peace and harmony, humanity’s progress is unattainable. On this auspicious occasion of Dussehra, the Manch urges citizens to join hands for peace and harmony, while also praying for the war-affected nations. Let us encourage all segments of society to contribute to global peace and coexistence.”
The MRM’s call for global unity and its strong stand against conflict signals a growing movement towards peace and reconciliation in troubled times.
